I’m pretty sure that the 5 people who actually read my blog are aware that Kelly Link’s masterpiece, Magic for Beginners, made not only the Top Ten list at Salon, but the #3 slot on Time Magazine’s Year’s best list. But I’m going to add my little blog to the growing weight of the Kellyverse to remind everyone that there is a true holiday miracle happening here: all of this praise is for a collection on an indie press without a giant PR machine behind it. So you know it has to be that good.

Even though she made their lists, these editors have to make sure everyone understands that these are objective decisions made by well-educated intellectuals, so there’s no squee at all. Apparently, that’s up to us bloggers. So here it is folks:
Kelly Link is all that. Her stories, characters, and language are just absolutely fucking miraculous. I reread them when I need to remember why the I bother writing (and reading). She’s just that fucking good.

So…yeah. Go. Buy. Read.
